About the Fellowship

We are selecting 30 Climate Champions of Young India, who are grassroots-level climate advocates from diverse backgrounds across the country. Under this fellowship, these leaders will be equipped with resources and training to set up local chapters and mobilize youth in their community while integrating government-youth partnerships

Eligibility Criteria

The fellowship is eligible for young people between the ages of 18 and 29. You should apply for the fellowship:

  1. If you are a young changemaker engaged in youth mobilization and driving impact at the grassroots level; or
  2. If you are leading or are a part of a youth-led organization and seeking support to amplify your efforts; or
  3. If you are interested in climate action and are eager to unlock opportunities to accelerate your journey in grassroot mobilization

What is the purpose of the National Youth Climate Consortium (NYCC)?

At NYCC, we are addressing fragmentation in Indian youth climate space, providing resources along with capacity building, and mobilising youth for climate action. We are creating a space for young people to collaborate and foster oneness in the climate community.

Who should apply to NYCC?

If you’re passionate about making a difference in the climate space, NYCC is the place for you. All young climate advocates across India who are between the ages of 18 and 29 can become a part of the consortium.

How is the NYCC different from other networks and platforms?

There is currently no singular platform which brings together grassroot- focussed young people and youth organizations on climate action and environmental initiatives at one place nationally. NYCC aims to unite youth movements across India and facilitate grassroot upliftment of young people.

How can you join NYCC as an individual?

We have launched a YuWaah-UNICEF fellowship to select 30 Climate Champions of Young India, and you can apply for it too! Under this fellowship, the 30 Champions will be equipped with resources and training to set up local chapters and mobilize youth in their community while integrating government-youth partnerships You can check the option to be included in the NYCC Community. How will the grant of 65,000 INR be disbursed to the 30 Climate Champions of Young India?

Each Climate Champion will submit a proposal to indicate their local mobilization plans and post review, will be granted the amount based on their requirements.

I am not 18-29 years old, can I become a Climate Champion or be a part of the NYCC Community?

Unfortunately, no one below the age of 18 and above 35 will be able to partake in the NYCC Community.

Can I fill the application in my local language (i.e. Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, etc)?

Yes, you can view the application in your own language by choosing the option to ‘translate’ on Google Translate. We are accepting the form submissions in your own language as well.

Will I be able to attend conferences like LCOY, COP as a Climate Champion of Young India?

You will get a chance to attend conferences like LCOY and COP29 to represent the National Youth Climate Consortium.

Will I be rejected from NYCC if I don’t get selected for the fellowship?

Everyone who applies to become Climate Champions of Young India can be a part of the NYCC Community. In case you get a rejection from the fellowship, you will still be an NYCC member.
